A Time and Season for Everything.

Even the trees know that there is a season for everything. So why do we lose hope and faith when the leaves start to FALL apart and we end up in WINTER? That’s where the battle begins. Fight it with prayer, activate your faith, SPRING will come again and you’ll have the blessings of the SUMMER. Rest. Trust Him.

| Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8 NLT |
““For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.

A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant and a time to harvest.

A time to kill and a time to heal. A time to tear down and a time to build up.

A time to cry and a time to laugh. A time to grieve and a time to dance.

A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones. A time to embrace and a time to turn away.

A time to search and a time to quit searching. A time to keep and a time to throw away. A time to tear and a time to mend. A time to be quiet and a time to speak.

A time to love and a time to hate. A time for war and a time for peace.”

REVIEW: Cantu Shea Butter for Natural Hair Conditioning Co-Wash

Being a hair product junkie, I have constantly tried to find the “right” products. When I just started my hair journey, I decided to colour- treat AND add a keratin treatment while I was still transitioning which left my naturally curly hair dry, brittle, limp, and lifeless. (I have a 4B/C curl pattern mix)

I have actually been using this product and the Cantu line for about 2 years now and I absolutely love it. This is my go-to co-wash.

First of all, it’s very AFFORDABLE ($6-15USD, $800- 1500 JMD) – it does everything it advertises and it smells great!

Product Advertises That:

  • Creamy Cleanser gently removes build up
  • No mineral oil, sulfates or parabens
  • Restores your real, authentic beauty
  • Made with 100 percent pure shea butter

  • Works as advertised
  • Smells great
  • Inexpensive
  • Leaves hair feeling soft and moist
  • Detangles hair
  • Cleanses hair thoroughly
  • Defines curls
  • Frizz buster
  • Doesn’t leave hair crunchy (I love this because my hair is shrink- mania)

  • It finishes too quickly, haha…. can’t think of any cons

Would I buy it again?

Cafe Blue, Irish Town, Jamaica

If you’re looking for a quiet getaway then a trip to the hills is definitely the ideal thing to do!

Recently my friends and I went on a little road trip to check out some spots on the island! It was such a lovely day out.

After about a 45 min drive (timing from Papine area) we first stopped by Cafe Blue in Irish Town . Now, Cafe Blue has THE BEST (in my opinion) coffee ever. They really are the home of Jamaica’s finest gourmet coffee drinks.

My favourite is the Blueccino!

The carrot cake with cream cheese topping is also divine. The texture of the cake was soft but not overbearingly mushy.

My friends tried the white chocolate cheesecake with a hot beverage.

Overall it was worth the drive out to the hills and the view of course, was amazing:

I think it’s a great idea for a mini trip – few hours, clear your mind with the clean, crisp air and the gourmet Jamaican coffee.  I give CB a sure ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

REVIEW: Design Essentials Natural Curl Enhancing Mousse

I REALLY HATED this product the first time I tried it . I had to re-wash my hair immediately! It made my hair so coarse and dry and I washed it all out.

I bought it because I watched several YouTube reviews about the product being good for wash & go and for braid – outs…. completely the opposite for me! I didn’t even get to the braid- out part before this product dried out my hair. I was unable to detangle with my fingers and I even tried with a comb. The only remedy was to re-wash my hair.

The second time around,  it left my hair feeling sticky, DRY, weighed down, hard and crunchy which is disgusting and I had to re-wash my hair again along with a deep conditioning treatment.

It runs about 16- 20 USD ( 1500- 2500 JMD) depending on where you buy it.

Product Advertises That:

  • Natural Curl Enhancing Mousse perfect for loose wavy to tightly curled natural textures
  • Simple “Wash and Wear” styles are easily achieved
  • Infused with Olive Oil and Vitamin B Complex
  • Nourishes hair while providing added moisture and shine

  • Smells really good
  • Doesn’t Flake

  • It says it has Olive Oil on the label, but it’s not listed in the ingredients
  • Leaves hair very dry – no moisturizer can save it, you just have to wash it out
  • Not as moisturizing as the product claims
  • Makes hair frizz

Would I buy it again?

  • Won’t be trying the product again.

REVIEW: Sunny Isle Jamaican Black Castor Oil Edge Hair Gel

So I have been natural for almost 4 years now (no creames, chemicals, straighteners …nothing) and of course I became a hair product junkie, trying to find the perfect one for my curls.

But for my edges so far I have only tried the Creme of Nature Argan Oil Perfect Edges and the Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil Edge Control Hair Gel (ORS) – will review later

So, I went to the hair store and neither was available!…..So I had to try something else because believe me my edges needed to be laid!

So I picked up the Sunny Isle Jamaican Black Castor Oil Edge Hair Gel ($8- 10 USD, 890 JMD) 100% made in Jamaica

Product Advertises That:

  • Infused with Jamaican Black Castor Oil
  • Stimulates Hair Growth
  • Long-Lasting Firm Hold
  • Keeps Edges In Place

  • Not Greasy
  • The first ingredient is water
  • Made in Jamaica
  • Has Jamaican Black Castor Oil
  • Mixture is Light
  • Smells Nice

  • Long- Lasting Firm Hold? – It lasted only about 4- 5 hours on my hair
  • If I use it with my EcoStyler Gel it cakes and forms a residue, so I had to wash the front of my hair out within 2 days of use.

Would I buy it again?

  • Maybe

Serendipity, Jamaica

Fresh Air.

Breathtaking scenery.

Truly an amazing getaway from the hustle and bustle of Kingston City. It is about an additional 15- 20 minute drive from the hot coffee shop Cafe Blue (see previous blog post).

It has nature pools and a natural waterfall, a spa, a bar/restaurant, healing garden and a whole lot more.

You can spend the day or stay in one of the beautiful cabins. Here is the website for more info: http://www.serendipityholisticresort.com

The Reason.

I have always wanted to start a blog but just never had the time! Isn’t that always the excuse though? Why is it we delay the things that have been laid on our hearts to pursue? I truly believe God has placed us all on this earth for divine purpose. We all have a purpose and a calling. My path primarily includes the dental field – that is my 9-5 weekly, creating beautiful smiles (and sometimes I like to think of it as a superpower, haha). Otherwise, I love to to take pictures and I like to review products and I love pretty little things.

I chose “The Graced Citizen” for two reasons:

  1. I absolutely am obsessed with Jesus and His Grace He has granted me over and over  again.
  2.  grace defined: simple elegance or refinement of movement

So here is to my imagination and lots of posts! Hope you love them.
